Some of the most memorable scenes in movies involve cars that play an important role in the success of the film. From thrilling high-speed chases to getaway cars, the athletic Alfa Romeo has been a movie icon for decades and has greatly enhanced the films in which it was featured. Let's take a look back at some of the most iconic Alfa Romeo moments in film.
THE GRADUATE
Mike Nichol's classic 1967 romantic comedy-drama stars Dustin Hoffman as Benjamin Braddock and Anne Bancroft as Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate. In the opening scene, Mrs. Robinson asks Ben to drive her home as he obliges with the intention to escape his graduation party. The acquaintances hop in a bright-red two-seat convertible roadster - a graduation present from Ben's parents that he calls his "little Italian job" sports car. While Ben is uncertain of what type of car he's driving when asked by Mrs. Robinson, any car aficionado would know that it's a 1966 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider.

OCTOPUSSY
Bond, James Bond. Everybody recognizes those famous James Bond lines, but do you recognize the Alfa Romeo car in the 1983 Bond film, Octopussy? It's a brief feature but who could forget the thrilling high-speed police chase where Bond, played by Roger Moore, tries to make it to Octopussy's circus in time to Warn the NATO general of the Soviet plot. The Alfa Romeo model featured in the film is a GTV6 and the magnetic roaring of the engine can be heard as Bond zooms through German highways and side streets.
QUANTUM OF SOLACE

THE GODFATHER
The classic 1972 film, The Godfather Part I, features cars that are nearly as memorable as the human characters. One of the main characters, Michael Corleone who is played by Al Pacino, meets a local Italian girl named Apollonia. In a significant foreshadowing scene, Michael teaches Apollonia how to drive a car. A few scenes later, Apollonia is murdered as she starts the engine in an Alfa Romeo that was wired with a bomb. The Alfa Romeo featured here was actually Alfa's first postwar production model, the 6C 2500 Freccia d'Oro. Fortunately, the 6c which was blown up in the movie was a replica!
6 UNDERGROUND
Most recently, an ultra-fast lime green Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio acts as the star of the destructive car chase scene in Netflix's 6 Underground, a film directed by Michael Bay - who is known for heart-pumping action sequences. Starring Ryan Reynolds, this film centers around six billionaires who fake their deaths to form a crime-stopping vigilante squad. The Alfa Romeo Giulia is shown zipping and tearing through the alleyways and streets of beautiful Florence, Italy. The high-octane chase features rubber-burning, tires screeching, cars flipping over and pedestrians scrambling out of the way as the lime green super sedan manages to escape its enemies.
